This will be the first time in history that a winner's song from American Idol has been scrapped from the live tour. The song had a successful few weeks on iTunes, but many reviews and fans voiced their opinions about the song, saying it was one of the worst songs ever for an American Idol winner.
And if you have heard some of the tour performances of the song, Kris Allen has hit some pretty bad and off-key notes. Adam Lambert, which many say can sing any note, even had trouble with the song during the finale, which tells America the song really was not that good in the first place.
And Idol tour producers also saw the crowd at each tour performance was not pleased with the song either, giving it little to almost no applause. Because of this, Idol tour producers have decided to take the song out of the tour, effective since the Sacramento show on Friday night. A new song will replace "No Boundaries" this coming week.
Richard Rushfield wrote about the song pull-out in a recent article:
Reviews of Season 8's finale show widely trashed the victory number and the chilly reception has followed "Boundaries" onto the road. In reviews of the tour, "Boundaries" has been singled out as a misstep, generating a tepid crowd response compared with the other numbers.
The tour's producers have been listening to the sound of few hands clapping. Starting tonight in Sacramento, "No Boundaries" will be disappear from Allen's set, according to sources with the production.
A new song will take its place in Allen's set down the road later this week.
