For the first time in history, American Idol will rebroadcast a performance night episode, according to BuddyTV.com. The announcement was made on the So You Think You Can Dance show in light of the shocking news that music legend and icon Michael Jackson died of cardiac arrest on Thursday in Los Angeles. Michael Jackson week this year on American Idol featured the top 13 singing songs from Jackson's early career with the Jackson 5 till the 90's. It was one of the best performance nights in the history of the show.
Kris Allen that night performed "Remember the Time," while Adam Lambert performed "Black or White."
Reports say that the show will air 8 p.m. Monday on Fox.

SOOOOO glad they decided to rebroadcast that amazing week as a tribute for MJ. The world will truly miss him and his incredible artistry. I am really happy to be able to watch Adam Lambert perform Black or White on t.v. again. I am sure Adam will try to find time to watch the tribute, in Michael's honor. Michael was one of Adam's biggest idols..my heart goes out to Adam on this very sad day <3

I LOVE DANNY GOKEY WITH ALL MY HEART AND SOUL AND ALWAYS WILL
So glad we'll get to see Adam again! MJ was one of his favorite performers. And Adam did an amazing job with Black or White.
I'll miss him. I grew up listening to his songs, watching his dance. I hope, your songs will live in our generation.. You will be remembered through your music forever. Everybody loves him from all over the world! Rest in peace...
i think this a real nice gesture, but i wish they would have done an entirely new live episode instead of repeating top13 performance night. i know everyone's busy, but surely the AI producers could have put some effort into making monday night's show 1000 times more special.
